Fine Art February

My website link: Claude Lyles Art Works . I am going to update photos and works in the coming week, so give me a few days.

Remember that you can click on photos and enlarge them for better viewing. Of course, all photo's enjoy copy wright protection.

New Art:
Did not get a piece accepted into juried Alliance For The Arts All Florida show. I never liked those people anyway. 650 entries.
Two lessons:  From her instruction on people, and from a photo.

Working in the studio on oil pieces from my Plein Air workshop in Naples with Morgan Samuels Price. Go to her website for a wonderful art adventure: Morgan Samuel Price studio. Her finished work from a photo from the outside site is in the upper left of this collage.

Would like to improve on my four pieces in the coming days/weeks, and work from some beach photos I took in Delnor-Wiggins Pass Sate Park.

Step-bystep by our teacher, in Naples Botanical Gardens

I am not yet good enough to "finish" them on site so I bring them back into the studio to work. Would like to complete them in the coming weeks.

And, attended a demonstration by Keiko Tanabe, watercolorist, who is putting on a workshop this week at the Bonita Springs Arts Center. I did not realize when I signed up that she is internationally known. Last week she was in Paris, for example. I purchased a book of her Venetian works and interview.

Her prep work is in the upper left, finished Parisian street scene from photo taken last week.

Her site: Keiko Tanabe Fine Art . I have started following her on Instagram as she is so prolific, its the only way to keep up with her.

Redo's: worked on these, now I am finished.

Reading:
Couple of art books and Revelations, visions, prophecy, and politics by Elaine Pagel - I should have known better from her other writings. A waste of time as she speculates and guesses.

Also two Scott Hahn books: Joy To The World - how Christ's coming changed everything (and still does); and The Lamb's Supper - The Mass as heaven on Earth as it is exposed in Revelation. I read the latter once but am in the mood to go through it again. It is interesting how many topics in Revelation show up in the Mass.

Listening To:

Bonnie Raitt - That Song About the Midway -
"I met you on a midway at a fair last year
And you stood out like a ruby in a black man's ear
You were playing on the horses
You were playing on the guitar strings.

You were playing like the devil wearing wings. Wearing wings, you looked so grand, wearing wings. Do you tie them to your shoulders just to sing?
Can you fly? I hear you can! Can you fly?"

Boxer Rebellion - Diamonds

As we on the Edison tour were rolling down the highway in a quiet, powerful Volvo -powered Motorcoach (see Travel below): Roy Orbison - Ride Away -
 ..."wheels a turning
One girl a yearning
Big motor burning the road.

I'll ride the highway
I'm going my way
I'll leave a story untold.
Pretty girls behind me, but
pretty girls are everywhere
Big motor wind up, ride away from here."

I am enjoying my Christmas present, my Bose wireless, noise cancelling over-ear headphones.

Nora Jones - daughter of Ravi Shankar for you Woodstock kids - Day Breaks (So peaceful, engineered well) and 31 others by her.

Travel:

views in Lakeland from the historical tour.
With the Edison Ford Estate toured Florida Southern College in Lakeland. If you are interested in archeitecture it is a must see. Frank Lloyd Wright designed most of the campus and in it's own way, as impressive as the Sistine Chapel. Also toured his last Usonian House, built 20 years after his death, but in accordance with his plans. I have been in multiple buildings he has designed, Chicago, Saint Louis, Kansas City, etc. and this one does not disappoint.

On the bus, to Lakeland

Fl Southern College walkways on campus
Largest of 4 FLW designed chapels. Japanese influence is evident

Administration building and more covered walks

Residence built on FLW design and plans
Accomplishment:

Greg took command of B Troop, 3rd Squadron, 61st Cavalry Regiment in Fort Carson earlier this month. Photo is during the handing-off of command.

Humor:

It's true, many people, smarter than me, self-help gurus, have said it, "If you don't want to change it's not going to happen. "
