“The thing is that a person who wants to explore painting naturally reflects: ‘How can I in my work be most expressive?’ Then the forms develop.” - Franz Kline

I am making more use of links, music and visual. Click on them and then you might have a second link to search. Some locations, such as YouTube generate revenue for your "free" viewing by running ads, so be patient. On occasion there is a "skip ad" button. Sometimes it will load and start when you go there, sometimes you need to click on the white arrow in the red box. Photos and articles can be enlarged by clicking on them or simply pinch them open if you have a touch screen.

I hope you enjoy the updates to my art and life as presented in this blog. IF you don't like the political stuff and don't want to receive future blogs just say so, no hard feelings. So far, only Six have taken me up on the offer. With that in mind, remember: BELOW THE FOLD is where (most) of the controversial stuff is placed. Sometimes stuff is a hybrid, say humor and political. Nevertheless, I do this blog for me, it clears my mind and then I do it to share stuff I think is interesting, fun, needed to be considered, etc. I like, also, the feedback I receive, either on a specific article or the concept in general. Right now there are about 70 of you who receive this directly. Claude

ART:
Completed first of two Christmas themed 8x10” oil paintings, second will be in next blog.

MUSIC:

“More legacy-defining albums were released in 1971 than in any other year by my (not me) count. As proof, let’s play a game: I name the album, you name the artist, and no googling. “Sticky Fingers,” “Who’s Next,” “L.A. Woman,” “Aqualung,” “Tapestry,” “What’s Going On,” “Fragile,” “Imagine,” “At Fillmore East,” “Madman across the Water,” “Pearl,” “Anticipation,” “Shaft,” “The Low Spark of High Heeled Boys,” “The Concert for Bangladesh.” How many did you get? Now add the Grateful Dead’s first gold
album, and of course “Led Zeppelin IV,” sometimes known as Zoso. Nineteen seventy-one is still considered “the ’60s,” which started when JFK was assassinated and ended with Watergate. The antiwar Democratic Convention riots defined chaotic 1968. Woodstock embodied 1969. In 1970, the Beatles disbanded and Apollo 13 proved failure wasn’t an option. But what was it about 1971?”

READING:

The morality derived from secularized culture and the morality derived from the Bible do not share common ground, as our current, extremely heated debates about abortion, infanticide, eugenics, homosexuality, homosexual marriage, and transgenderism make clear. Evidently, the subtraction of the doctrinal aspects of Christianity result, after several generations, in the substitution of secular morality for Christian morality. The fundamental differences between the two now divide our society far more deeply, vividly, and intractably than previous disputes among rival Christian parties. Needless to say, historical-critical scholarship, in undermining doctrine, has contributed mightily to the cultural substitution of secular morality for Christian morality

The authors do a good job linking the various scholars and thinkers from the 14th century to our day and illustrating their relevance in the history of biblical scholarship. By focusing on many of the key philosophers and religious figures of the last 700 years, the book also serves as a good introductory history of Western thought since the early Renaissance. It also contains a useful list of recommended books about the Bible written by believing biblical scholars.

THINGS I FIND TO BE INTERESTING:
 Do you remember this?

Remember on November 7, 1983 that the M -19 Communist Organization detonated a bomb in the Senate in an attempt to kill Republicans?

Susan Rosenberg was arrested for this.  She was pardoned by Clinton. She is now an administrator for Black Lives Matters and does fundraising and administrative work for BLM. It appears Bombing the US Capitol to kill Republicans is OK. The LEFT said the capital riot on January 6, 2021 was the worst day in American History. NOT SO!! It does NOT compare to the Bombing of the US Capitol on Nov. 7, 1983. Let's not forget ALL of our history, despite what the media spews.

Look at the projected weather for the world this winter…notice all of the colder and wetter than normal? Hotter?

Yes, the global temp might be rising, but again, man’s fault? So look at how it is rising from essentially the all-time low. It was much warmer 1,000 years ago, and 5,000 years ago. One must look at all of the factors before trying to bankrupt the world’s economies. I want clean air and water, however…

We live in cold times:

“We live in the coldest period of the last 10.000 years” , says Danish
glaciologist, Jørgen Peder Steffensen who take us back in time to the Grenland icecores and reveals the secrets from the past.

Jørgen Peder Steffensen is a professor in ice core related research at the centre for ice and climate at the Niels Bohr Institute the University of Copenhagen.

BELOW THE FOLD: WARNING:

John Fund writing on the (Wall Street) Journal’s website:
Peter Hannaford (1932-2015), who worked for Reagan for 30 years as a communications and media adviser, was a friend of mine. He would often tell me after a disastrous election for conservatives that Reagan had the wisdom to put it into perspective and the ability to inspire optimism about the future. . . . In [a] 1977 speech, Reagan noted that Democrats controlled the White House and held wide majorities in both houses of Congress. . . .
In Hannaford’s para-phrasing, Reagan then said: Conservatives lose when two things happen at the same time. When the people we elect disappoint us and go in a direction we did not elect them to go in. That happened with Richard Nixon. The second is when liberals are smart enough to run someone as a moderate even when he is liberal.

Jimmy Carter, a Southern governor and evangelical Christian, ran as someone who claimed to be a moderate. But even if Jimmy Carter wants to be moderate, he can’t be. His congressional leadership and the Democratic Party will not let him. He will govern from the left. If he governs from the left, he will fail. Liberalism always fails. That is why we believe in our principles and the Constitution.

So Carter will fail. People will notice; they will get upset and concerned. They may get angry and form groups and protest in the streets. When that happens, we will be able to have another conversation with them. We (conservatives) will be able to open a dialogue and say, “We made mistakes, but we are renewing ourselves. We will deliver on the promises we make to the American people.” I do not guarantee we will win, but we will be able to make our case.

SOMEBODY
Tell President Dufuss (aka Brandon) that the fallen soldier died long before Covid-19, and that he has no risk of contracting it from a body entombed…
And, that we wear the mask to prevent spreading Covid, not catching it…and, that according to docs, it is minimally effective at that.

They wanted this guy to be a Supreme Court Judge…scary!
